Calendar Change

Central Lee Family,

It has been a tumultuous week in terms of winter weather. It is very rare for our school district to experience three snow days in a full calendar year, let alone in one week. And, with Friday’s forecast, we are looking at another cancellation.

Due to the timing of these storms and our district calendar, we are taking some creative steps to minimize disruptions to student learning.

Friday, January 12, 2024 will now be a no school day and will instead be a teacher workday. Our originally scheduled day off on Monday, January 15, will now be a regular school day. Essentially, we are flipping the calendar days on Friday and Monday.

By doing this, we are reducing the chances of the school year extending into late May/early June.

We do not plan to fully implement online classes for snow days in the foreseeable future. We recognize that our students learn best when they are physically at school, in our classrooms. If we experience more inclement weather this season, we may consider making future snow days online learning days. If we do make that decision, we will ensure you are fully aware of expectations and accommodations for students.

We understand that families may have made prior commitments for Monday. If this switch affects your plans, please call your child’s school office and let them know. Each situation will be handled with empathy and understanding.

Once again, there is no school on Friday, January 12, and all PK-12 students are now asked to report to school on Monday, January 15.

Thank you for your flexibility and understanding as we navigate the calendar together and ensure our students continue to have access to the learning experiences they need and deserve.

Sincerely,

Dr. Andy Crozier
Superintendent
