Wow! Where does the time go? The school year is halfway over, and we still have so much learning and growing to do. Second graders have been studying text features and informational writing. They will start doing research to write an informational piece. One topic that students will research will be careers that they are interested in for their future.
To be prepared for the research, students were asked what career they were interested in learning more about. This is how they answered:
Mrs. Bryant
Mesa: I want to be a teacher because I want kids to learn.
Lane: I want to be a teacher because I want to teach people stuff.
Claire: I want to be a teacher because you get to have fun with kids and tell them things.
Brinkley: I want to be a teacher because I want to be just like Mrs. Bryant.
Grahm: I want to be a farmer because my generation has been farming and I want to keep it going.
Kaden: I want to be a police officer because I want to catch bad guys.
Cam: I want to be a boxer when I grow up because I think I’m a good fighter.
Aaron: I want to be a mechanic because my dad taught me how to.
Zoey: I want to be a cop because I want to investigate people.
Easton: I want to be a farmer because you get to drive tractors.
Emma H: I want to be an artist because I love drawing and painting.
Mikey: I want to be a marine biologist because I love the ocean.
Emma N: I would like to be a nurse like my mom because I think it would be fun to help people.
Niko: I want to be a teacher when I grow up because I would love to teach.
Uriah: I want to be a United States Marine because my dad used to be one.
Willow: I want to be a teacher because you learn more and you are happy.
Brooke: I want to be a doctor so I can help people and work with my brother.
Hazel: I want to be a dance teacher because I like dance.
Tatum: I want to be a doctor because I like to be kind and I want to help people be healthy.
Jessa: I want to be a fashion designer or teacher to help people get some clothes or learn stuff.
Mrs. Hassman
Blain: I want to be a fireman so I can save people from fires and put fires out.
Azrael: I want to be a cop because I love to help people a lot and they also get to eat donuts!
Ilyse: I want to be a cop because you can catch villains.
Noah: I want to be an electrician and to do this I will have to go to SCC just like my dad. The reason I want to do this is because I like electricity and learning about it.
Kodhe: I want to be a bus driver so I can drive a bus.
Ridgley: I want to be a firefighter because if someone gets stuck on a roof my team and I can come and get them!
Lillian: I want to be a cop because I can tell the bad guys what to do. I have always wanted to be a cop since I was little.
Draven: My favorite job is to be a paleontologist because you will get to study about dinosaurs.
Emma M: I want to be a scientist and a vet because I like animals plus science. I even have my own science lab downstairs!
Kaisley: I want to be a firefighter because then you can save people from when their house are burning down.
Nova: I want to be a lawyer because I want to help good people.
Alaysia: I want to be a singer because I want to be just like Riahanna.
Emma R.: I want to be a veterinarian because I like animals, especially cats and dogs. Grayson: I want to be an astronaut because you can see different planets, such as Saturn and Mercury.
Joshua: I want to be a police officer because I will get to help people and take care of them.
Addelyn: I want to be a veterinarian because I really like to see animals and save them. Once I played animal rescue with my dog, Paisley.
Harley: I want to be a McDonald’s employee because I love McDonald’s! The McFlurry is the best!
Olivia: I want to be a nurse so I can heal people and take care of them. When I am a nurse they will not get sick all the time!
Harper: I want to be a teacher because you can make students smarter.

Timber: I want to be a farmer, so I can grow corn for people to eat.
Jackson: I want to be a police officer, so I can make sure people follow the law.
