Central Lee Elementary Third Grade Teacher, Tara Campbell, presents in Washington D.C.

Mrs. Campbell, through Iowa State University Extension, presented at the National Teen 4H Ignite Conference in Washington DC this March. Over 1200 teens attended from 47 different states.  Her work Iowa State’s Monarch Eggs Project led to this opportunity to showcase what teachers do in public school classrooms across Iowa to continue encouraging projects that increase pollinator habitats. She was able to meet Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley as he listened to students share their learning through the conference. Mrs. Campbell, along with the third grade teacher team, have been teaching science concepts through the monarch butterfly migration for decades. These experiences are ones remembered by Central Lee Elementary students for years. We are proud of Mrs. Campbell for sharing her love of teaching elementary science with students from across the nation and representing Central Lee and Iowa State University.
