The NAMM Foundation has honored the Central Lee Community School District with the 2025 Best Communities for Music Education Award for the second consecutive year.
The designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in providing music access and education to all students. It recognizes that a healthy music community is defined by a wealth of passion and commitment from leaders who leverage every resource to expand opportunities for children to learn and grow through music making.
“Receiving the Best Communities for Music Education Award is a true testament to the passion and support of our music students, staff, and community,” said Central Lee High School Music Director Tracy Madsen. “We are honored to be recognized for our commitment to ensuring that music remains an essential part of our students’ educational journey."
The Best Communities for Music Education Award highlights the importance of music as an integral element of a comprehensive education. At Central Lee, students can get involved in music at the elementary level, with beginning band, youth choir, and general music classes. Middle school students can take part in show choir, concert choir, band, marching band, and jazz band.
At the high school level, students participate in CENTRifugal Force, concert choir, marching band, concert band, and jazz band.
The district’s music program also benefits from the Central Lee Music Boosters, which raises money and provides opportunities for more students to get involved in music from an early age.
