Lighthouse Status

Central Lee High School has been named a Lighthouse School, a prestigious recognition awarded by FranklinCovey to schools demonstrating exceptional implementation of the Leader in Me program.

The designation honors schools that foster a culture of leadership, academic alignment, and community involvement. Central Lee is one of only two schools in Iowa to achieve this certification.

“Our designation as a Lighthouse School is a testament to the commitment of our staff, students, and families to cultivate a culture of leadership,” said Dr. Andy Crozier, Superintendent of Central Lee Community School District. “This achievement reflects how we live out the principles of The 7 Habits® each day, by empowering students to lead with purpose, think critically, and contribute meaningfully to their school and community.”

Lighthouse Schools demonstrate sustained leadership development across all levels of the school community. Staff members participate in ongoing professional learning and model leadership in both vision and practice. Leadership principles are embedded in student instruction through direct teaching, integrated strategies, and consistent staff modeling.

“We are incredibly proud to be recognized as a Lighthouse School,” said Principal Nicole Herdrich. “Every day, we see our students stepping into their potential by setting goals, leading with confidence, and shaping a brighter future for our community.”

This certification remains valid for two years. Central Lee High School may renew its status through a virtual self-assessment at the end of that period.
