Hi everyone!

It’s been such a great start to the year here at Central Lee Elementary and Middle School. I have been busy supporting students as they settle into routines, build friendships, and set goals for a successful year ahead!

In the elementary grades, we’ve been learning about what I do as the school counselor through fun stories and interactive lessons. This is done during their specials class on one of the days they have computer science.

Mrs. Fuger, Mrs. Koller, and I have also gotten the Student SOAR Team started for grades 3-4. We have 10 wonderful leaders who will help with all things leadership in our elementary building. Their first task was to come up with the homecoming dressup days. I’m excited to see what other unique ideas they come up with this year to make our school a great place to be for all students.

In middle school, we’ve been working hard on getting leadership up and running. This all starts with Leader in Me lessons that focus on the 7 Habits. Students also have the opportunity to apply for and carry out building-wide leadership roles. In fact, to start the year, 22% of our middle school students have a building-wide leadership role!

Something new and exciting we have started this year is Student-Led Action Teams. The conversations and ideas that emerged in the first meeting were so much fun to hear. Some of the action teams are focusing on service learning projects, a school newsletter, and the school environment (making our hallways a welcoming place to be).

Whether it’s through classroom lessons, small groups, or one-on-one check-ins, my goal is to help every student feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. Please reach out anytime—I love partnering with families to help kids shine! You can reach out to me by calling the school, emailing me, or sending me a message through your child’s Class Dojo (grades PK-4).
