Centrally Speaking High School Art

As soon as the school year begins, the high school art classes jump right into creating—we like to call it organized chaos! We are anticipating the arrival of the new kiln, and the sculpture classes are very excited. There are several big projects in the making, including Colton Taft’s Octopus, fairy and spooky houses, and, of course, some large cookie jars.

The Art Club has started planning for their annual trip with the Science Club and AFS Club to Adventureland’s Fall Phantom Fest on October 25. It will be a fun and spooky day full of rides and haunted houses!

On November 15, the Happy Holidays Craft and Vendor Show will take place at the high school in both gyms and the commons, featuring various vendors and food trucks. It will be your one-stop shop for all your holiday needs! We are also working on a photo opportunity, so bring your kiddos to get a fun picture for your holiday card.

Last school year, the art students competed in several art shows and did very well. Congratulations to all of our talented students!

To end our year last year, we enjoyed a day of painting with the Burlington Art Center. We learned a new technique—painting with a palette knife and very thick paint—which required us to trust the process!
