Central Lee Middle School has been named a Lighthouse School, a national recognition awarded by FranklinCovey to schools that demonstrate outstanding implementation of leadership principles.
The designation celebrates schools that promote leadership, academic coherence, and meaningful community involvement. It is directly connected to Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” through the Leader in Me framework.
“Earning Lighthouse status reflects the intentional work happening every day in our classrooms and throughout our building,” said Dr. Andy Crozier, superintendent of Central Lee Community School District. “Our staff and students have embraced the 7 Habits as more than a program—it is part of who we are. We are proud of the way our students are developing the confidence and skills to lead and serve others.”
To qualify for Lighthouse certification, schools must demonstrate that leadership is embedded throughout the school environment. At CLMS, students are given authentic opportunities to set goals, track their progress, take ownership of their learning, and contribute to their school community. Staff members participate in ongoing professional learning and intentionally model leadership practices in their daily interactions with students.
“Our students continue to rise to the challenge of leading with responsibility and integrity,” said CLMS Principal Kim Ensminger. “Seeing their growth both academically and personally is what makes this work so meaningful.”
Central Lee High School also received the designation in June 2025.
