HS Science

The High School Physical Science, Chemistry, and Physics classes have gotten to take part in a lot of hands-on learning and experiences throughout the year! Physical Science has demonstrated their knowledge of energy transformations by creating their very own rubber band cars! They have also demonstrated their knowledge of simple machines and Newton's Laws by building customized mobiles. The Chemistry students explored physical and chemical changes by creating slime, as well as the reactions of chemicals by oxidizing magnesium. Physics has been very hands-on this year, building bridges to test tension, flying paper airplanes to understand air resistance and trajectories, and currently, students are building catapults to apply their knowledge of kinematics!

Physics is also planning to visit Adventureland this year after studying a curriculum developed specifically for this event! Physics students are to make predictions and interpret the given data before attending. While we are at the park, students will be able to ride roller coasters and collect data while on those rides that will be uploaded and interpreted with the help of AI - assisted analysis. This opportunity will provide students with a chance to deepen their understanding of physics and allow them to work with emerging tools that are being integrated into the science realm.
