Central Lee Middle School

We have had a great start to our school year! It’s hard to believe we are over halfway through the first quarter. The students and staff have settled into routines and continue to get to know each other. With enrollment up this year, we have enjoyed welcoming new students to our district!

Each year, our district and school buildings establish goals for the year. For the 2022-23 academic year, our goals are as follows:

District Goal:  Every student will engage in a leadership learning opportunity each week at Central Lee.

Building Goal:  Middle School teachers will teach a Lead Lesson each week.

Teachers are providing a leadership lesson each week, usually on Friday mornings, from the Leader in Me curriculum. These lessons help students build their leadership skills in a comfortable, inclusive environment.

District Goal:  Every student will demonstrate academic growth based on the district assessments.

Building Goal:  Students will pass one (1) iReady Reading Lesson and one (1) iReady Math Lesson every week.

Students are working hard to improve their reading and math skills through iReady lessons. These lessons are based on a student’s diagnostic score taken at the beginning of the year. As the students pass lessons, their learning path adapts to meet their performance level. Students take another diagnostic test mid-year, and we are aiming for growth from their initial fall scores. Families: please encourage your students to do their best on their iReady lessons!

Student-Led Conferences will be held in October, so please keep an eye out for communications regarding scheduling and your student’s portfolio-sharing expectations.

As a friendly reminder, the Middle School Smore Newsletter contains links to teachers’ classroom agendas. The newsletter also has a tutorial available for parents to learn more about PowerSchool (our Student Information System) that records grades, attendance, and lunch balances.

We continue to build leadership and a positive culture in our middle school. With this goal in mind, we held a PBIS fun day on the first Friday of the school year, and we have similar, fun activities planned for the future. Our Student Leadership team met last week to plan for Homecoming and other student activities.

As always, if you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to your student’s classroom teacher or Mrs. Ensminger. E-mail is the best way to initiate communication with staff.

Thank you for being such an important part of your student’s education!

Please enjoy a few pictures from our PBIS day!
