We celebrate students selected by their teachers as HAWKS of the Month for October. These students exhibited regular use of Habit 1: Be Proactive. They were responsible for their actions, words, and work. They took initiative and were accountable for their actions. Teaching students how to grow as leaders is an integral component of the K-12 curriculum. It is embedded in all classrooms and embraced by staff and students.

Mrs. Kaisie Peterson's 4th Grade Class spends time becoming better readers in many different ways. You'll find students working independently on reading books at their good fit level. Students stretch their learning while completing i-Ready personalized lessons. Mrs. Peterson works with small groups teaching specific skills those students need. She also helps students strengthen their word knowledge by creating activities in wordwall.net. Even science and social studies topics are taught through experiences with articles and non-fiction text. We appreciate the intentional planning she and her 4th grade colleagues do each week to support student learning! #Proud2bCL

Please support the ongoing efforts of our CL Music Boosters to supply our K-12 band and choir teachers with what they need to create a stellar music program! Reach out to any PK-5 students and/or 6-12 music students to order some Krispy Kreme Doughnuts today! Orders and money are due to the school office by Friday, November 17th. We are proud to welcome Christy (Holtkamp) Schrader as a 2023 Athletic Hall of Fame inductee! Christy's achievements are nothing short of extraordinary. Scoring a remarkable 1,311 points and grabbing 733 rebounds, she stands as one of our school's all-time basketball greats. Her defensive talent shines through with an astounding 273 blocked shots, placing her among the top 50 in state history. In 1993, Christy scored an incredible 550 points in a single season, along with 303 rebounds that placed her in the top 30 in state history. During her senior year, she averaged 5.27 blocks per game, also ranking in the top 30 in state history. Additionally, Christy contributed her talents to the volleyball and golf teams. Off the field and courts, she exemplified leadership by dedicating her free time to serving as the President of the Student Council. Join us in honoring Christy's legacy in Central Lee's athletic history!

Congratulations to those who were elected yesterday to serve on the Central Lee School Board, which will all serve a four-year term! District 1 - Matt Doty District 2 - Bill Young District 3 - Mark Hulsebus Our elected School Board plays a vital role in our community, as it is responsible for making critical decisions that have a significant impact on our students, educators, families, and the entire community. We are excited for these board members and look forward to the positive influence they will have on our schools!

We are excited to announce Jeff Brisby's induction into the 2023 Athletic Hall of Fame! Jeff is one of the most accomplished athletes in Central Lee history. His talents extended across multiple sports, earning him first-team all-conference honors in football, basketball, and baseball. He was a standout on the all-Hawkeye Land team in both baseball and basketball and received honorable mention all-state recognition in all three sports. In basketball, Jeff's senior year saw him average a remarkable 22 points and 9 rebounds per game. On the football field, he excelled as a quarterback, passing for 1,100 yards and leading the conference in tackles. In baseball, Jeff earned a .380 batting average and was a dominant pitcher, with a 10-1 record and an ERA under 1.00. Please join us in recognizing Jeff and his incredible athletic legacy!

We are proud to honor Don Ford as a 2023 Athletic Hall of Fame inductee! In the Central Lee community, Coach Ford is a true legend, having dedicated 33 years of his life to our students and athletes across six sports. His legacy includes being the founder of the volleyball program at Central Lee, where he served as head coach for 31 years. Under his guidance, the volleyball team earned nine conference titles in just 10 years, earning him multiple Conference Coach of the Year awards. His influence extended to multiple sports; he dedicated 11 years as head basketball coach and another 10 as an assistant. Coach Ford also served as head coach of girls' track and softball for 10 years, as well as assistant football coach for one year and a volunteer head girls golf coach for three years. Beyond sports, Coach Ford has demonstrated unwavering support for Central Lee’s extracurricular activities: from school plays to show choir, band, and more. He has inspired countless young people to develop their skills and confidence both on and off the field. Congratulations, Coach Ford!
