Universal Human Rights Month is an annual designation observed in December where people all across the globe are encouraged to come together and stand up for equity, justice and the dignity of all humans.
Human Rights Day is observed every year on 10 December — the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted, in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). The UDHR is a milestone document, which proclaims the inalienable rights that everyone is entitled to as a human being - regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.
Did You Know?: Available in more than 500 languages, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is the most translated document in the world! #Proud2bCL

Computer Science Education Week #CSEdWeek, Dec. 6-12, is an annual call to action to inspire K-12 students to learn computer science, advocate for equity in computer science education, and celebrate the contributions of students, teachers and partners to the field.
Fun Fact: This week is held in recognition of the birthday of Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (December 9, 1906), who invented the first compiler and coined the term “bug” (an error in a program) after removing an actual moth from a computer in 1947! #Proud2bCL

The Central Lee FFA conducted their annual member service/labor auction recently. The auction provides members with some connections to potential employers in the community and matches students with people who need services and perform tasks around their homestead. Many times these relationships lead to longtime employment for the student and “hands-on” learning for the student. Students are allowed to utilize some of the donated hours towards their community service requirement to graduate. We want to sincerely thank this years auctioneers and auction ring helpers! (L-R) Travis Bell from Bell Auction Company, Landon Rudd(chapter Sentinel), Jim Huff from Sullivan Auction Company, Dusty Wellman from Wellman Cattle Farms, Pat Steffensmeier from Sullivan Auctioneers, and Mason Holvet representing The Steffes Auction Group. We thank the school administration, parents, community and all the businesses who supported this successful event and all of our activities throughout the year. #CTEworksforCL

National Special Education Day is celebrated every year on December 2! This day commemorates the anniversary of our nation’s first federal special education law, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, signed by President Ford on December 2, 1975.
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act made public education available to all eligible children with disabilities across the nation and ensured special education and related services were provided for those children. This law was a critical and necessary step on the path to making education and resources equitable for all children – a goal we are committed to in the Central Lee Community School District. This day honors the milestones that have been achieved for special education so far and reminds us of the continued progress to come. #Proud2bCL

K-8 students participated in Bus Safety presentations this week. Bus driver, Bob Burgess is shown modeling safety procedure expectations for students while waiting for the bus and in the case of an emergency evacuation. We value our bus drivers for safely transporting our students each and every day. Please remind your students to continue following the expectations outlined in the bus safety event. #Proud2bCL

Instructors from SCC came and presented to the Accounting I class. (From L to R) Trish Hopper, Kevin Rosenberg, & Renee Smith, all from SCC's Business Department talked with students about pathways in Business at SCC and possible career options. They also shared the benefits of a junior college and the seamless transition to SCC from Central Lee. They left the class a huge nugget in something called the "Last-Dollar Scholarship". Students who enter a program in high-demand can actually go to college for free. Please contact SCC or Mr. Van Ausdall for more information.
