We’re celebrating National Library Week and National School Library Month! 📚
We've had two successful book fairs this year, serving as fundraisers for new books and supplies for our school libraries. We're also learning library skills alongside computer science skills during library time.

Central Lee High School Excels in Debut Appearance at State Physics Competition
Central Lee High School embarked on an exciting journey as students made their inaugural appearance at the State Physics Competition in Cedar Falls on April 9. Despite being newcomers, CLHS students showcased their talents in five challenging categories, including constructing mousetrap cars and catapults. Their dedication earned them a respectable 8th place in these events.
However, students’ standout performance came in the measurement category, where they secured an impressive 3rd place finish. This achievement is a testament to their commitment to excellence and their ability to adapt and excel in a competitive environment.
Overall, Central Lee High School achieved a commendable 7th place ranking. Their professionalism, enthusiasm, and team spirit were evident throughout the competition, reflecting positively on the school's culture and dedication to academic excellence.

Elementary students learned about the eclipse via lessons, activities, and videos in their classes Monday morning. From 1:45 pm to 2:15 pm the entire school went to the track to participate in viewing the partial solar eclipse together. We are grateful to the Elementary PTO for purchasing safety viewing glasses for each student and staff member. Several parents and grandparents attended our viewing party, too. Students were willing to follow the procedures to enjoy the event safely. When looking up at the sun they had their glasses on and were amazing at what they saw. Principal Fuger played music with a moon, sun, and eclipse theme to add to the fun. We enjoyed this opportunity to experience science together!

On April 4 & 5, 2024, Central Lee High School had 17 students competing at The State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa held on the campus of Iowa State University in Ames, IA. On Monday, April 8, there will be a partial solar eclipse visible in our region. This natural phenomenon offers a remarkable chance for students to observe and learn about astronomy and the workings of our solar system. However, it's crucial for us to ensure that our students view this event safely.
😎 Safety Glasses: Safety glasses should meet international safety standards (ISO 12312-2) and should be worn at all times when looking at the sun. Our PTO purchased a pair of these safety glasses for each student - THANK YOU!
🧑🏫 Supervised Viewing: Teachers and staff will be supervising all outdoor activities related to the solar eclipse.
🏫 Indoor Activities: For students who may not be able to view the eclipse outdoors or for those who are more comfortable indoors, alternative educational activities will be provided.
👨👩👧👦 Parental Involvement: We will be outside to view safely from 1:45 pm to 2:15 pm if parents want to join us on the playground / school yard. Bring your own safety glasses.
We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all our students during this exciting event. Thank you for your cooperation and support!

Central Lee Seniors experienced a taste of the real world through mock interviews. Every senior sat down with a local professional for an interview. The mock interviews created a great opportunity for the students to interact with a professional, share their resumé, and gain valuable feedback from local businesses on their interview techniques. It was another step to better prepare students to be career and college ready. Thank you to our participating professional from Conagra, Chem Gro, Central Lee CSD, Pilot Grove Savings Bank, Great River Health, Lee County Economic Development, Iowa National Guard, and Carl A. Nelson. #CTEworksforCL #Proud2bCL

Friendly Reminder: The Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP) testing for students in grades 3-11 will take place this month. See the schedule for each building below:
HIGH SCHOOL: Monday, April 8 through Friday, April 12
MIDDLE SCHOOL: Monday, April 22 through Friday, April 26
ELEMENTARY: Monday, April 22 through Friday, April 26
Students will be assessed in reading, math, and language/writing. Students in grades 5,8 and 11 will also be tested in Science. Testing will be in person and take place in the mornings.
The purpose of the ISASP is to allow students to demonstrate what they have learned and how they are progressing. The data it provides represents one way we measure student success. As a district, we will closely examine the results as we make key decisions and ensure we are setting high expectations for student progress and achievement.
Below are some tips to help ensure your student is prepared:
✅ Make sure your student gets enough sleep the night before each test.
✅ Make sure your student has a healthy breakfast or arrives to school on time for our breakfast. School breakfast will be provided at the regular cost.
✅ Remind your student of the importance of taking the test seriously.
✅ Encourage your student to do their best and have a positive attitude.
✅ Explain that even though questions will be difficult and they may not know all the answers, it is important for students not to leave an answer blank.
✅ Being on time and in attendance is important for all testing.
Thank you for your partnership and encouraging students to put forth a strong effort on these assessments!

Today, we want to highlight the incredible contributions of our associates. Their kindness, patience, and dedication help create a nurturing environment where every student feels valued and supported. Thank you! 🌟📚#Proud2bCL
