
We are excited to announce Jeff Brisby's induction into the 2023 Athletic Hall of Fame!
Jeff is one of the most accomplished athletes in Central Lee history. His talents extended across multiple sports, earning him first-team all-conference honors in football, basketball, and baseball. He was a standout on the all-Hawkeye Land team in both baseball and basketball and received honorable mention all-state recognition in all three sports.
In basketball, Jeff's senior year saw him average a remarkable 22 points and 9 rebounds per game. On the football field, he excelled as a quarterback, passing for 1,100 yards and leading the conference in tackles. In baseball, Jeff earned a .380 batting average and was a dominant pitcher, with a 10-1 record and an ERA under 1.00.

We are proud to honor Don Ford as a 2023 Athletic Hall of Fame inductee!
In the Central Lee community, Coach Ford is a true legend, having dedicated 33 years of his life to our students and athletes across six sports. His legacy includes being the founder of the volleyball program at Central Lee, where he served as head coach for 31 years. Under his guidance, the volleyball team earned nine conference titles in just 10 years, earning him multiple Conference Coach of the Year awards.
His influence extended to multiple sports; he dedicated 11 years as head basketball coach and another 10 as an assistant. Coach Ford also served as head coach of girls' track and softball for 10 years, as well as assistant football coach for one year and a volunteer head girls golf coach for three years.
Beyond sports, Coach Ford has demonstrated unwavering support for Central Lee’s extracurricular activities: from school plays to show choir, band, and more. He has inspired countless young people to develop their skills and confidence both on and off the field.

We are delighted to introduce Christal Lewiston, a 2023 Fine Arts Hall of Fame inductee!
A CLHS Class of 1970 graduate, Christal's journey in fine arts began as a musician. Showcasing her talents in various bands and choirs. In 1981, she joined Great River Players (GRP) Community Theatre as a set builder and later became deeply involved in 100+ theatrical productions as a director, designer, actor, and technician.
Christal has served on the GRP board of directors as President, Vice President, and Secretary. Under Christal's direction, GRP's performance of 'A Bench at the Edge' by Luigi Jannuzzi achieved statewide recognition, winning the AACT's ACTFest 2015 competition and representing Iowa in the 5-state regional competition.
Additionally, she extended her talents to Central Lee High School's drama department, where she designed sets, fostering a lasting relationship with Great River Players. She also enabled students to participate in Speech Contests and continues to support local artists with her project to create the Players’ Court—a multi-use green space for artistic endeavors.
We are thrilled to honor Christal Lewiston and her service to the Central Lee community!

We’re thrilled to welcome Linda Heitz as a 2023 Fine Arts Hall of Fame inductee!
For 32 years, Linda served as a beloved art teacher at Central Lee. She created the Art Club, which still thrives today and offers students remarkable opportunities. Additionally, Linda organized memorable trips to cultural hubs like Kansas City, Chicago, Minneapolis, and St. Louis. These journeys not only immersed students in the arts but also provided invaluable business insights.
Linda was a champion of student expression, establishing the annual Central Lee Art Show and encouraging participation in Conference Art shows. In retirement, Linda continues to make a difference by judging the Lee County Fair Art Hall projects and organizing art exhibitions in support of the Rebuild Nepal Foundation. Her involvement in organizations like P.E.O., FM Art Center, and Saint Mary & Joseph Catholic Church reflects her ongoing dedication to community and culture.

The High School Students made a trip over to the Elementary building to teach a lesson made by the SOAR team about Being the Good and Everyone has Genius! The lesson was tied to the Red Ribbon week celebrations in both buildings!

We are excited to introduce Mindy Torrey (Hoskin) as a 2023 Fine Arts Hall of Fame inductee!
A member of the CLHS class of 2000, Mindy has not only created a boutique agency, Mayday Design, but also successfully pitched, landed, and managed many high profile accounts. She transitioned her entrepreneurial spirit to head the creative department of Lands’ End, and later became an award-winning Vice President at Lane Bryant, championing the body positivity movement.
Her remarkable journey continued as she rebranded and launched a new brand position at Soma and subsequently led the Sally Beauty Creative marketing team, creating several viral campaigns recognized by prestigious awards. Beyond her professional achievements, she is a true artist and leader, bringing unparalleled vision and insights to every project.
Congratulations to Mindy Torrey on her well-deserved induction into the 2023 Central Lee Fine Arts Hall of Fame!

It was a successful day for the Foods III students who participated in the Iron Chef Culinary Competition today at Indian Hills Community College and brought home the 2nd place trophy! #Proud2bCL





We are proud to welcome Philip (Phil) Tweedy as a 2023 Academic Hall of Fame inductee!
Phil Tweedy, a 1992 Central Lee HS graduate, was a standout student during his time at Central Lee. His accomplishments include winning the Physics Bowl, as well as receiving the Outstanding Senior Science student and Presidential Academic Fitness Award. Additionally, Phil was named to the 1989 Iowa State Baseball All-Tournament Team, and his FFA team won Gold at the State Convention.
Phil went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude with a degree in chemistry from Monmouth College, where he was also a three-year Academic All Conference 1st baseman for the Fighting Scots. He then earned a medical degree from the University of Iowa and served in the Medical School Ambassador Program. He was President of the Internal Medicine Interest Group from 1999-2000.
Now, Phil is an Internal Medicine doctor and Primary Care Consultant, known for coaching, mentoring, and community leadership. He's coached youth baseball, YMCA flag football, and Upwards basketball, as well as hosted students as job shadows in his office. Phil resides in Hannibal with his wife, Tory, and their sons.

The Central Lee Agricultural Education/FFA department harvested the school farm recently. The land lab is an extension of the classroom providing students with hands-on learning in the many aspects of crop production enterprises.
