In just a few weeks, we will be honoring our Hall of Fame inductees from the classes of 2020 and 2021! The ceremony will take place Saturday, May 14, at 10 a.m. at Central Lee High School. For individuals to qualify for a nomination to one of our three Halls of Fame, they must have graduated from Central Lee schools or have been a staff member. Several Central Lee Middle School Science Fair students were able to participate in some Laboratory Tours at the University of Iowa on Friday, April 22nd, 2022. From left to right in the group photo: Caedon Newton, Owen Burgess, Arabella McDowell, Addison Hohl, Chloee Haigh, Addison Conlee, and Kinzie Manwill The students were able to tour the MATFab Laboratory: The Materials Analysis, Testing, and Fabrication (MATFab) Facility brings together cutting-edge instruments for the physical sciences and engineering into one convenient location on campus. The MATFab facility houses instrumentation for chemical and elemental analysis, imaging, metrology, and micro and nanofabrication. The students were also able to tour the Chemistry Facility: Natural, Mathematical, and Social Sciences in the College of Liberal Arts and Science. Uses lasers to study the motions of proteins as part of an effort to develop new methods for drug discovery.

April 7th the CLMS choir student performed in the SEI Super Conference Honor Choir under the direction of Alan Chapman, hosted by Burlington, Notre Dame. The CLMS choir has been rehearsing the music for about four weeks preparing for this festival. Student not only rehearsed and performed four selections with singers from Burlington-Notre Dame, West Burlington, and Holy Trinity, but each choir had the opportunity to showcase their individual talents by performing their own song selection.

A large group of selected 6th-8th grade Central Lee Choir students participated in the Southeast Iowa Choral Directors Association honor choir festival hosted at the Iowa Wesleyan University Chapel. The students rehearsed throughout the day with students from all across Southeast Iowa showcasing their talents with an evening concert.

Hawk's Place enjoyed music from special guests, Kirk Brandenburger, Brian Wagner, Dave Roth and Keating Hissem. Mrs. Fuger joined in for one song. With every new song Brian introduced the students to a new instrument. After the songs the kids enjoyed visiting with our guests, view the instruments up close and even try their hand at a few. Thank you, Kirk, Brian, Dave and Keating for sharing your musical talents with us.
