So many fun and creative characters filled the playground and bus lot, and the excitement at each trunk was truly amazing. 🎨🍬 We also want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the special donations made for our elementary friend, Aiden Washburn. 💛 Your generosity and kindness were overwhelming, and the support shown to Aiden and his family as he continues his time in the hospital truly reflects what it means to be part of the Central Lee family. 💛🖤 A huge shoutout to our food trucks for keeping everyone fed and happy — and to our custodial staff for their flexibility and help with setup, cleanup, and keeping the building open for our guests. The Central Lee High School Marching Hawks wrapped up their competition season on a rainy Saturday, October 18th — and what a day it was!

In the morning, the Hawks performed at the IHSMA State Marching Festival at Brady Street Stadium in Davenport, earning a Division I Superior Rating!

Later that day, the band traveled to the Quincy High School Octoberfest Field Marching Show, where they powered through two lightning delays and a wet warm-up to deliver another outstanding performance. The Hawks proudly brought home:
Outstanding Color Guard Award (Class 2A)
3rd Place Overall (Class 2A)
Outstanding Iowa School Award

The students have worked incredibly hard this season preparing an entertaining and crowd-pleasing show. The band would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents who supported us throughout the season — those who drove students to and from rehearsals, moved equipment at competitions, chaperoned, hemmed uniforms, cleaned shoes, and helped in countless other ways.

The band also would like to recognize our transportation department for ensuring the band’s safe travels to and from every performance. Your teamwork and dedication made it all possible!

Congratulations to the Marching Hawks on an outstanding season filled with perseverance, pride, and passion!

We're recognizing Emotional Intelligence Awareness Month this October. 🙂

Emotional intelligence involves recognizing our own emotions, understanding how they affect our behavior, and responding to others with empathy and awareness. These skills support both academic and personal success!

One night only in October there will be an evening of BINGO at the Donnellson Community Room. Friday, October 24th from 7:00-9:00 pm bingo numbers will be called as a fundraiser for the Central Lee Show Choir Program. It will be a night of fun, laughter, and music. Bring your treats, with limited concessions available.

Quentin Solstad was recently selected for participation in the 39th annual Opus Honor Choir Festival. Over 3,000 students were nominated by their directors for 720 positions in the four Opus Honor Choirs. Selections were made by means of a recorded audition. Guest conductors of the choirs include Lisa Rehms, 5th/6th Grade Treble Clef Honor Choir; Luke Miller, 7th/8th Grade Bass Clef Honor Choir; Dr. Sarah Van Waardhuizen, 7th/8th Grade Treble Clef Honor Choir; and Ted Brimeyer, 9th Grade Mixed Honor Choir. The 2025 Opus Honor Choirs will perform at 4:00 p.m. on November 20th at Stephens Auditorium in the Iowa State Center in Ames. The Opus Honor Choir Festival is made possible by the Iowa Choral Directors Association, Inc.
