We are delighted to share the extraordinary achievements of three Central Lee High School alumni, who recently claimed national championships in their respective college sports! Mya Merschman (Class of 2021) showcased her tremendous basketball skills at Clarke University in Dubuque and played a pivotal role in her team's victory at the 2023 NAIA Women's Basketball Championship on March 18! Her dedication and commitment to the sport have undoubtedly contributed to this monumental accomplishment. Mya averaged 8.1 points per game this year for Clarke University. Similarly, Tiahnna Bryant (Class of 2019) and Ellie Herdrich (Class of 2022) have brought immense pride to Central Lee as they led the Central College Dance Team to its first-ever National title last weekend in Daytona, Florida. Their exceptional performance and teamwork were instrumental in this historic achievement.

Mrs. Tweedy’s kindergarten class visited elementary classrooms this week. The purpose was to teach students and teachers some basic sign language which they can use to communicate with one of our fellow Hawks. He has a cochlear implant and hearing aids. Students and teachers will continue practicing what they've learned. You're never too young to be a leader at Central Lee Elementary!

Keeping Us Healthy: Women in Medicine was the theme for the latest Hawk's Place Career day. Central Lee Alumni Megan Warneke, MD, Breanne Vogel, ARNP, Anna Myhre, lab technician, along with Central Lee parent, Megan Clatt, dental hygienist, visited with the students about their careers. Guests shared with the students health care for their teeth and their bodies. Besides question and answer sessions they listened to their heart with a stethoscope, looked at bacteria under a microscope, and enjoyed jello "petri dishes with sprinkles (bacteria)" as an extra treat. Thank you to these ladies for sharing what their typical work day involves through giving a couple hours of their time to these inquisitive students,.

Hawk Place kids were excited to enjoy playing some basketball with their idols from the high school girls and boys basketball teams. We appreciate these busy high schoolers and their coaches giving a day after school to the kids to learn some basketball skills, shoot some baskets, and even sign autographs for the eager waiting littles. They were so excited to get to meet and enjoy the "real " players.
